This Musette BWV Anhang 126 was originally composed for the keyboard in the key of D Major.

It was traditionally attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, as it appears in Anna Magdalena Bach's Notebook, a notebook which Bach offered to his wife Anna Magdalena in 1725 and which was to be filled with favorite selections of the members of the Bach family.

However, recent research has concluded that Musette BWV Anhang 126 was probably composed by another (unknown) composer.

This Musette in D Major, BWV Anhang 126 was composed during the Baroque period.

It has a simple A-A-B-B musical form.

This score is an Urtext based on the original manuscripts available.

The term musette refers to a musical instrument of the bagpipe family.

The musical genre called musette is thus an imitation of this instrument.

In this particular musette, the melody in the right hand resembles typical tunes played on the musette.

The left hand plays a murky bass accompaniment made up of repeated broken octaves which produce a somewhat droning effect.
