Program Notes :

This Two-part invention No. 2, BWV 773 has a canonic musical structure.

For instance, the theme exposed in the right hand in measures 1 to 8 is exposed two measures later in the left hand without a single modification.

Both hands thus play a canon in perfect counterpoint!

Please note that this score contains suggestions for playing the trills in accordance with Baroque performance practice.

In particular, trills are played ON the beat and begin on the upper auxiliary note.
