This Little Prelude in A minor by Domenico Zipoli is a work from the Italian Baroque period.It has a very simple A-A-B-B musical form :
- Measures 1-8 : Phrase A : starting in A minor and modulating to the dominant key of E Major. The melody is played by the right hand
- Measures 9-16 : Phrase B : starting in the relative major key of C Major and modulating back to the main key of A minor at measure 13. The melody is played by the left hand
In the first 8 measures (Phrase A), the right hand plays the melody and hence should be more in evidence while the left hand plays a soft accompaniment.
In the last 8 measures (Phrase B), the left hand plays the melody while the right hand plays the accompaniment.
