Sonata in F Major, K 274, L 297

Andante

During the course of his life, Domenico Scarlatti composed some 550 harpsichord sonatas for his royal pupil and patroness, Queen Maria Barbara of Spain.

This Sonata in F Major, K 274, L 297 is appropriate for Grade 7 piano or harpsichord students.

It has one single movement : Andante.

Its musical structure is A (repeated) - B (repeated).

Please note that this score contains suggestions for performing the ornaments (here, trills and appoggiaturas) in accordance with the performance practice of the Baroque period.

Specifically, trills begin on the upper auxiliary note, ON the beat, and must have at least four notes.

In this sonata, we suggest playing the appoggiaturas as long appoggiaturas.

Long appoggiaturas (measures 40, 44, 46 and 48) are played on the beat and take up one half of the main note's value.

Duration : 03:13
