This study by Wohlfahrt was originally written for the violin in the key of F Major.

Franz Wohlfahrt's Study Opus 45, No. 51 is an intermediate-level study of finger action.

It is to be played in the first three positions.

It is very important that the left-hand fingers fall vertically on the string and with great evenness.

The hand should remain relaxed and quiet, and the fingers should be very close to the strings at all times.

In particular, the little finger (pinky) should always remain above the strings.

This study can be played with slurs of either 8 or 16 notes, and it is a good idea to practice it with the metronome at times, to ensure that the left-hand fingers are falling evenly on the string.
