This Study Op. 45, No. 44 by Franz Wohlfahrt is a challenging study of martelé.
It is built upon the following ostinato rhythm : one eighth note, a sixteenth note rest, and a sixteenth note, all in one bow.
The violinist must be sure to bite both the eighth note and the sixteenth note. This is done by pressing the bow onto the string with the index finger before playing each note.
The sixteenth note rest is very important, as it corresponds to the release of the bow pressure after every martelé stroke.
