Türk, Daniel Gottlob
1750-1813
Daniel Gottlob Türk was a German composer, theorist, organist and music professor of the Classical period.
He was contemporary to Franz Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
His masterpiece is his Clavierschule [Piano Method] (Leipzig and Halle, 1789), a 400-page instructional manual for the keyboard which was very influential at its time.
Daniel Gottlob Türk also published an important collection of short Handstücke [piano pieces] which is still much appreciated today by beginner pianists.
