Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767) was a German composer of the Baroque period.

Telemann was a contemporary of Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi and George Frideric Handel.

Georg Philipp Telemann was one of the most prolific composers in musical history. He was one of the leading German composers of his time.

He was a friend of Johann Sebastian Bach, who made Telemann the godfather and namesake of his son Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach.

He also knew personally the great George Frideric Handel.

In his compositions, Telemann incorporates several national styles such as the French or the Italian.

Telemann's music is an important link between the late Baroque period and the early Classical period.
