Sor, Fernando

Josep Ferran Sorts i Muntades, alias Fernando Sor, was a Catalan teacher, virtuoso guitarist and composer of the Classical period.
He wrote operas, choral and ballet music, earning acclaim for his ballet Cendrillon.
However, he is remembered mainly for his compositions for classical guitar.
Sor’s guitar works range from pieces for beginners to very difficult works, such as his Variations on a Theme by Mozart.
