Suite in D minor, HWV 437 (2/6 : Allemande) -- Urtext

Allemande from Suite No. 4

This Allemande in D minor, HWV 437 by George Frideric Handel is the second of six movements in the Suite No. 4 in D minor, HWV 437.

This suite was composed ca 1703-1706, and was first published in London in 1733.

It has six movements :
  1. Prélude
  2. Allemande
  3. Courante
  4. Sarabande
  5. Gigue
  6. Sonatina HWV 581
This Allemande is appropriate for Grade 8 piano or harpsichord students.

Please note that this score contains suggestions for performing the ornaments (here, trills) in accordance with the performance practice of the Baroque period.

Also, we suggest adding a cadential trill to measure 7.

Such cadential trills should begin ON the beat, on the upper auxiliary note.

Finally, the upbeat eighth notes at the beginning of each section can be played as sixteenth notes in order to conform with the overall rhythmic flow of the piece.

Duration : 03:13
