Edmund Severn (1862-1942) is an American composer and violinist of the late Romantic period and first half of the 20th century.

Edmund Severn was born in England but moved to the United States at the age of 4.

He settled with his family in Hartford, Connecticut where he studied the violin with his father.

Edmund Severn later studied music in Berlin, where he got acquainted with the Joachim bowing technique.

As a composer, Edmund Severn wrote mainly orchestral music.

He also composed many pieces for the violin, including a concerto and three string quartets.

Edmund Severn's most famous work is undoubtedly his Polish Dance for violin with piano accompaniment.
