This little waltz entitled A Morning Greeting, Op. 117, No. 1 by Leo Oehmler is a nice selection for beginner violinists.
The violin part uses only the four open strings (E-A-D-G) to produce a simple accompaniment for the piano part (which plays the melody).
The violinist is challenged to use all parts of the bow : broad strokes with the whole bow, short strokes at the tip, and heavier strokes at the frog.
Great care must be taken to play the dynamics which are given with much detail in both the score and the violin part.
