Christian Gottlob Neefe was a German composer and teacher of the Classical period. As a composer, he is remembered mainly for his lieder and Singspielen. In Bonn, Neefe taught the young Ludwig van Beethoven the piano, organ, thoroughbass and composition. He also acquainted him with the the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach.
