Mason, Lowell

As a church musician, Lowell Mason composed and arranged hundreds of hymn tunes, many of which are still sung today.
Mason was thus a leading figure in American church music, and a fervent advocate of congregational participation in church music.
As a music educator, Lowell Mason contributed to introducing music into American public schools.
