Kuhlau, Friedrich

German-Danish composer of the Classical and the Romantic periods.

Kuhlau is remembered mostly for his piano sonatinas, which are a must for the early-intermediate stages of piano playing.

Together with the sonatinas by Clementi and Diabelli, they provide excellent preparatory material for the more difficult piano sonatas of Haydn and Mozart.
