Kirkpatrick, William James

William James Kirkpatrick was an American composer of gospel hymns, teacher and compiler of gospel hymn books.

He worked as a music teacher in the Philadelphia region, where he became associated with many Methodist churches.

His own musical style reflected the developing gospel hymn, which he helped to establish and popularize.
