This sheet music is the instrumental version of Gounod's Ave Maria transcribed for oboe and piano in the key of G Major.

It is based on the original sheet music edition for violin first published in 1853.

Gounod entitled this instrumental version Méditation sur le 1er Prélude de J.S. Bach [Meditation on the first Prelude of J.S. Bach].

Please note that in measure 36 of the oboe part, we have used the notes from the 1859 version for voice and piano

This is due to the fact that the notes of the 1853 Méditation version do not suit well the range of the oboe.
