Santa Lucia is a traditional Neapolitan song.
It was arranged by Teodoro Cottrau (1827–1879) and published by the Cottrau firm, as a barcarolla, at Naples in 1849.
Santa Lucia is an ode dedicated to the city of Naples and to the Santa Lucia area which faces the Gulf of Naples.
The lyrics are the words of a boatman inviting people on his boat, telling them about the beauty of the sea and of the city of Naples.
