Charles Dancla, Studies Opus 84 : 36 Études mélodiques et très faciles pour violon [36 Melodious and Very Easy Studies for the Violin].
Dancla composed these Studies Opus 84 for the violin, and a transcription for the viola also exists.
These Studies Opus 84 by Dancla are often among the first ones studied by young violinists and violists.
This Study in C Major, Op. 84, No. 30 is entitled Le Rossignol - Petite étude pastorale [The Nightingale - Little pastoral study].
It has a very interesting bucolic character, imitating the song of many birds, such as the nightingale, the cuckoo and the quail.
Technical features include short appoggiaturas which are to be played quickly and ON the beat, and which Dancla recommends to play softly, without harshness.
Another technical aspect of this study is simple finger action, alternating between two notes only.
Players will also be confronted with left-hand pizzicato in measures 23 and 26.
