Couperin : L'Art de toucher le clavecin
The Art of Playing on the Harpsichord
The first edition of Couperin's L'Art de toucher le clavecin
was published in Paris in 1716.
L'Art de toucher le clavecin is in fact a didactic work
in which Couperin gives detailed instructions for performing his
Pièces de clavecin
(the first book of which had been
published in 1713) with proper style and good taste.
In 1717, Couperin published the second book of his Pièces de clavecin
as well as the second edition of L'Art de toucher le clavecin which
now referred to both the first and second books.
L'Art de toucher le clavecin includes eight preludes and an
allemande.
