Burgmüller, Johann Friedrich Franz

Burgmüller, Johann Friedrich Franz

Johann Friedrich Franz Burgmüller (1806-1874) was a German pianist and composer of the Romantic period.

At the age of 26 (in 1832), Johann Friedrich Franz Burgmüller moved to Paris, where he stayed until his death in 1874.

In Paris, Burgmüller quickly gained a reputation as a piano teacher and more especially as a composer of popular pieces for the piano.

His works are written in an undemanding, easy-going life-affirming style, typical of the Paris salon music of the 19th century.

Moreover, Burgmüller composed several albums of piano études intended for children.
