Borowski, Felix


Felix Borowski (1872-1956) was an British-American composer, teacher and critic of the end of the 19th century and early 20th century.

Borowski was educated in London and at the Cologne Conservatory.

He began his career as a teacher of piano and violin in Aberdeen, Scotland.

In 1896, Borowski moved to the United States of America to join the Chicago Musical College as teacher of the violin, composition and history.

In 1925, he resigned from this college to devote himself to private teaching and to composition.

During his working life in the United States of America, Borowski was a composer, teacher, and newspaper critic in Chicago.

He was the programme annotator for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 1908 to 1956.

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra holds a collection of his original compositions as well as arrangements he made of works of others.
