Please note that this score contains suggestions for playing the ornaments in accordance with Baroque performance practice :
- Mordents (measures 3 and 45) are played very quickly, with a incisive character
- Trills (measures 4, 11, 22, etc.) are played ON the beat and begin on the upper auxiliary note
- Appoggiaturas (measures 4 and 46) are played ON the beat and take up one half of the main note's value
- Turns (measures 11, 39, 40 and 53) begin on the note above the principal note, and are played quite rapidly
Moreover, the editor suggests adding cadential trills to measures 11, 37, 53 and 58. Although not mentioned in the manuscript, cadential trills are required in Baroque music.
Furthermore, the value of the dot should be lengthened in a cadential trill, thus making the sixteenth note become a thirty-second note.
